The finals of the singles and pairs leagues were held at the CCC on April 1st. There were no fools but lots of great bowls.
In the singles Terry Dyche and Lori Wills were competing in the League C final and after close opening ends Lori gradually pulled away with successive scores of 2, 3 and 2. Ultimately Lori won the game 18-5.
In the League B singles Ken Bevan and Nan Hendren played one another and for a long time it was neck and neck with Nan holding a slight advantage until Ken scored 4 in the 10th end. Although Nan came back with singles in the last two ends it wasn't enough and Ken won
10-9.
The League A game was a match between Dave Jones and Terry Bradshaw. Terry got off to a great start and early on was leading 8-0. Once Dave got into his stride the game became much closer, especially after Dave had a perfect score in two of the ends. However, Terry held on to win 13-12.
The League B Pairs final had to be postponed because of availability of the players but the League C and League A finals took place.
In League C Pat Bylok and Dana Williams played Brent Bayley and Jenn Wetherall. Pat said that she was just glad to be playing as they had not expected to get this far. The experience of Brent and Jenn prevailed and they ran out easy winners in this game.
The League A final was between Bill McCollam and Peter Stuart Sheppard and Terry Bradshaw and Al Bell. As expected, this was a great game with some terrific shot making by both teams. The lead kept changing hands in the early ends but gradually Terry and Al moved ahead by three shots. Then disaster struck as they gave up a score of five in the sixth end. Bill and Peter were ahead 9-7 playing the final end but Terry and Al were sitting 3 before Bill played a great shot to win the end. The final score was 10-7. It was a joy to watch the game.
Congratulations to all the members who took part in the leagues and especially to the winners. A big shout out also to Terry Bradshaw for organising the leagues.
