On February 24th we hosted a short mat tournament at the Cobourg Community Centre. It was three bowl triples and we had 14 teams competing, including 9 Team Canada members who will be heading to the world short mat bowls championships in three weeks. Thanks to those who travelled from afar and thank you to all the bowlers who made the tournament such a success.
We played three 12 end games and congratulations to the winning team of Fred Wallbank, Martin Foxhall and David Llewellyn with 3 wins and 43 points.
In second place was Donna Longman of Cobourg playing with Bob Coleman and Michelle Bignall. Bob and Michelle were playing in their very first tournament having only started short mat at the beginning of the season. They won all three games and were only one point behind the winners with a total of 42.
Third was another Cobourg team of Lori Wills, Nan Hendren and Helen Beaton. with 2 wins and 44 points.
Fourth was the team from Ottawa – David Jefferies, Sandra Jeffreries and Bill Sheffield with 2 wins and 35 points.
