Although it is only about seven weeks since the season ended preparations for next season are already underway.

I (Bill Arthur) am taking over responsibility for open tournaments in 2014 and Eve Gorringe will be assisting me ( a reversal of roles from last year). I am accepting entries already so start planning your 2014 bowling and let me have your entries.
We received a number of comments last year to the effect that some members do not fully understand the arrangements for entering open tournaments and I’ll publish further information about that in due course.
The schedule for in club tournaments will be published as soon as possible. We are looking at changing the dates of some tournaments to get a more even spread of tournaments throughout the season. We will also publish the type of tournament it will be. That is something that has not previously been done until the sign-up sheets go up on the bulletin board.
We have been contacting our sponsors and advertisers to confirm their support for 2014. We are always looking for new advertisers for the year book so why not ask anyone you do business with if they would like to advertise. The cost is $50 for a half page or $100 for a full page. If you know of anyone who would like to advertise please contact Louisa Arthur.
Our club is located in District 14 of the OLBA and at the Fall District meeting in October, Nan Hendren was appointed as second vice chair. This is a six year commitment, serving two years in each of the second and first vice chair posts before taking the post of chair for another two years. I am sure Nan will do an excellent job.
It was also agreed at the October meeting that Cobourg should host the District 14 singles play downs in 2014. We are currently trying to agree suitable dates for the play downs.

Thursday May 1st - Spring General Meeting at the CCC
Saturday May 3rd - Clean up day at the club
Saturday May 10th - 2014 Opening Day
Finally, I'm working on writing something for the web site about club history. I'll let you know when that has been published but if anyone has any old photos that you think would be of interest then please let me know.
