On August 6th we held an open novice triples tournament. Twenty teams from Kingston, Whitby, Oshawa and Cobourg competed.

Fast out of the blocks were Henry Kowalski’s Cobourg team and Stephen Brown’s Oshawa team, both scoring the maximum 18 points in the first round. They played one another in round two with Henry coming out on top by 11 points to 8. In the second round the reigning champions from Kingston (Carole Anne Bell’s team) improved their position and moved up to second resulting in a match up against Henry in the final round.

Meanwhile Cobourg’s Lori Wills was making a move into third place after 2 wins.

The top match between Kowalski and Bell was pretty tight for the first half of the game but then Bell’s team moved ahead to win 13-6 and retain the championship.
Lori Wills defeated Stephen Brown to finish with a 3-o record and move into second place. Cobourg’s Jan Moynes finished strongly to take third place and as a result of his loss to Carole Anne Bell Henry Kowalski slipped into fourth place.

The full result was:
Winner (Kingston) - Jim Baggs, Carole Anne Bell and Scott Bell 3 wins and 42 points
Second (Cobourg) – Sheri Perkins, Lori Wills and Stacey Hyatt 3 wins and 39 points
Third (Cobourg) – Michelle Tinney, Lynn Bryans and Jan Moynes 2 wins and 1 loss; 40 points
Fourth (Cobourg) – Helen Kowlaski, Bob Coleman and Henry Kowalski 2 wins and 1 loss 35 points
Last game high- Gene Hutchison, John O’Connor and Jean Pierre Searle 17 points
