It was good to have several Cobourg teams competing and to record success. After their recent Ontario mixed pairs silver medal Baylee van Steijn and Jake Masterson were the clear favourites and they lived up to their reputation by winning all three games. There were notable performances by Carl Ferguson and Nan Hendren who won their first two games before losing their third to van Steijn and Masterson. Peter Stuart-Sheppard and Mary Salter were the highest two game winner and another two game winner from Cobourg was the team of Al Purcell and Emmalee Smith.
Steve Nelson (Heritage) and Nicky Chamois (Oshawa) were runners up, winning all their three games and finishing only two points behind van Steijn and Masterson. However it shows that our sport is often defined by small margins as Nelson and Chamois only won their first game on the last bowl in an extra end (to the chagrin of the writer).
